How does IPL work

Banish redness, reduce pigmentation and even out skin tone with IPL treatments.

If you’re looking to treat areas of redness or pigmentation for an overall brighter, more even skin tone, IPL treatments could be the right option for you.

They’re effective and with a course of treatments, can provide long-lasting results.

What does IPL treatment involve?

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. It’s also known as IPL laser treatment or photo rejuvenation and is a popular treatment for pigmentation, redness and skin texture and tone.

It uses laser to pulse through the skin’s surface, targeting a specific area in the underlying tissue. In the treatment of pigmentation, the laser causes the pigment to break down into smaller particles, before rising up to the surface of the skin to flake away as part of the body’s natural healing process

As a redness and rosacea treatment, it works by using the light energy to target blood vessels underneath the outer layer of skin. This triggers the body’s natural healing response, which breaks down the damaged tissue and forms new cells, resulting in clearer, more refreshed looking skin.

Is it invasive?

IPL is a type of laser skin resurfacing treatment, so while you’ll feel a slight sensation during the treatment, it doesn’t require extensive downtime. Skin may appear red or inflamed after a session, but this will improve on its own in the days following the treatment.

Our highly trained team of skin experts will ensure you’re looked after throughout the treatment. The laser pulses are brief, and can be timed to your level of comfort.

Is IPL treatment permanent?

Results for IPL treatments are long-lasting, but it doesn’t prevent against the appearance of future blemishes, dark spots or rosacea flare-ups. For that reason, it’s essential to have a dedicated skincare routine that helps protect your skin from future sun damage and blemishes.
