Is skin needling a permanent treatment?

Is skin needling permanent

We answer a common question about microneedling.

Skin needling – also known as microneedling or collagen induction therapy – is a common skin treatment used to reduce acne scarring and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

It works by using a device with fine needles of varying lengths to penetrate the skin, causing the body’s own natural wound healing response to kick into action. At Skinsmiths, we combine this with electroporation technology, which uses an electrical current to allow a serum to be delivered much deeper into the dermis for more effective results.

With repeated treatments, this means new collagen fibres are formed, resulting in skin that is stronger, firmer, and smoother than before.

For that reason, this treatment can be very effective at permanently reducing the appearance of scars. However, everyone’s skin is different and the results you experience also depend on a variety of factors. It’s very important to continue to take good care of your skin post-treatment, with sun protection and a home skincare routine to give your skin the nourishment it needs.

For best results, we’d recommend a course of microneedling sessions combined with other treatments to help condition and maintain your skin. Our Skin Health membership was developed specifically to help you get your best skin with a schedule of conditioning and high intensity treatments, and our friendly team of skin experts can help tailor a schedule of treatments just for you.
