What causes uneven skin texture?

Uneven skin texture is a common result of excess dead skin cells that build up on the surface of the skin. The environment also plays a key role in skin texture, dirt, chemicals, pollution and sun exposure can strip the skin of its natural collagen and elasticity, causing it to appear dry or rough.

Additionally, as we age, the production of collagen decreases, and skin cells lose the ability to retain texture, firmness, moisture and tone. From our late 30s hormonal changes start to affect the skin; skin’s hydration decreases resulting in dry, rougher skin which as we reach menopause is exacerbated.

Acne scarring is another contributing factor and can cause the skin to have visible marks and uneven texture. Facial scarring can have a huge impact on confidence and is a big giveaway of your age and skin health.

Not to worry though, there are treatments that can improve the health and texture of your skin.

  • Detox Treatment is a resurfacing treatment that uses Microdermabrasion and thermal laser to remove dead skin cells, deeply cleans and exfoliate for smoother, healthier skin.
  • Microneedling is an effective treatment for improving the appearance of scars and skin texture. The micro needles penetrate skin, triggering our body’s own wound healing response resulting in collagen production, which is stronger, and firmer than before.
  • Fractional CO2 Laser is our most advanced treatment and targets much deeper into the skin than other treatments.
