How to manage and improve the appearance of uneven skin
Perfectly smooth skin is something we all want, but textural issues such as enlarged pores and rough, dry patches can be common concerns for everyone. Here's how to treat it, and what you can do to prevent it from happening.
What causes uneven skin texture?
Commonly, this can be a result of excess dead skin cells that build up on the surface of the skin. The environment also plays a key role in skin texture, with dirt, chemicals, pollution and sun exposure all playing a part in stripping the skin of its natural collagen and elasticity. This can also cause skin texture to appear dry or rough.
As we age, the production of collagen naturally decreases and skin cells lose the ability to retain firmness, moisture and tone in the same way. From our late 30s, hormonal changes start to affect skin and hydration can take a hit, which can all contribute to the appearance of dry, rougher skin.
How to improve uneven skin texture?
It's important to keep your skin nourished and hydrated by drinking plenty of water, limiting your intake of over-processed and sugary foods and choosing skincare products suited to your skin type.
These skin-resurfacing treatments help improve texture and reduce congestion by exfoliating and stimulating collagen production in the skin, working alongside your skin's own natural regeneration process.
A course of treatments are available on our Skin Health Plan, which can be tailored just for you.
